Directional panels concentrate coverage toward a building, gate or remote zone. Omnidirectional antenna models spread coverage around the mounting point. A higher antenna-gain number does not automatically make a device better for every property.
Before buying or installing
- Confirm the complete model suffix.
- Choose active or passive PoE correctly.
- Keep non-rated power equipment dry.
- Check compatible mesh families.
- Plan grounding and cable protection.
Safe outdoor setup order
Prepare the network before climbing or mounting
Select AP, repeater or mesh deliberately
Prefer Ethernet-backed AP mode where cabling is available. Wireless repeater and mesh deployments still need a strong, compatible backhaul at mounting height.
Configure at ground level
Attach the correct antennas, open the local page, save security settings and test a real client before sealing or lifting the outdoor radio.
Weatherproof and verify again
Protect the cable entry, maintain antenna clearance, document the management IP and repeat the internet and backhaul tests after final installation.
Do not select by speed class alone: AC600, AC1200, AX1800 and AX3000 describe radio capability, not PoE compatibility, antenna pattern, port speed, mesh family or firmware.
