For AP mode, connect router LAN to the injector data input, choose AP, set the new SSID/security and let the upstream router assign addressing.
Expected result: A client receives a valid local address and reaches the internet through the intended operating mode.

Mount vertically with both antennas clear of metal; form a drip loop and seal the weatherproof RJ45 entry.
Expected result: The final mount preserves local management access, stable backhaul and usable two-way coverage.

LED names and colours can change with firmware. Compare the observed pattern with the manual for the exact hardware revision instead of borrowing another model’s chart.
Recover a WN570HN2 that disappears after mounting
- Test the main router or upstream Ethernet independently.
- Inspect the PoE link, injector direction, cable terminations and dry indoor power components.
- Connect locally and locate the device through its current gateway or the upstream router client list.
- Restart without erasing settings. Reset only when the local configuration cannot be recovered.
- Use firmware exclusively from the official page for WL-WN570HN2 and its hardware revision.
Design a realistic 2.4 GHz coverage test
A 2.4 GHz outdoor signal can travel farther than a 5 GHz signal, but usable coverage still depends on the client’s return transmission. A phone may hear the high-power access point while lacking enough transmit power to reply reliably. Test with the actual phones, cameras or sensors at several positions rather than judging coverage from the extender LEDs alone.
Record latency, page loading and reconnect behaviour at the edge of the service area. If devices connect but stall, reduce the distance, lower the mounting obstruction or use a wired AP closer to the clients. The manufacturer’s open-field range figures are not promises for buildings, foliage or crowded channels. Retest after seasonal foliage changes.
WL-WN570HN2 range and PoE questions
Can the WN570HN2 use 5 GHz?
No. This model is a 2.4 GHz N300 device, so the host and client plan must use its supported band.
Can its injector remain outside?
The official guidance says the adapter and PoE box are not waterproof. Keep them in a dry, protected location.
Why can a phone see WiFi but fail to load pages far away?
The outdoor radio may reach the phone while the phone lacks enough return power. Reduce distance or change the AP position.
