FIXChange one item at a time

A visible extender network proves only that the extender is broadcasting. It does not prove that the extender still has a working connection to the router.

This page focuses specifically on WiFi extender connected but no internet. It also explains WAVLINK no internet and extender uplink problem so each check can be completed in the correct order.

Safety and privacy: Use only the address printed on your device label or official manual. Never submit an extender administrator password to an unrelated public website.

Test the main router first

Connect the same phone directly to the router and open two unrelated websites. If the router also has no internet, restart the modem/router according to the ISP guidance or contact the provider. Extender changes cannot repair an upstream service outage.

Check the router-to-extender signal

Move the extender into the router’s room temporarily. Consult the model-specific LED guide because colours vary. If internet returns nearby, placement—not configuration—is the likely cause. Reposition it where the router signal is still reliable rather than directly inside the dead zone.

Restart equipment in order

  1. Turn off the extender.
  2. Restart the modem/router and wait for normal internet.
  3. Power on the extender and allow it to reconnect.
  4. Forget and rejoin the extended network on the test device.

Update saved router details

A changed router SSID, password or security mode breaks the extender uplink while the extended network may remain visible. Open the local settings page and select the router again. Enter the router WiFi password—not the extender administrator password.

Check bands, channels and security

Older extenders may not support a WPA3-only configuration or every 5 GHz channel. Compare the official specifications, then test a supported band and WPA2/WPA3 transition mode if available. Return to the strongest mutually supported security setting after diagnosis.

Separate device and network problems

If only one phone fails, forget the WiFi profile and restart that device. If every extender-connected device fails, concentrate on the extender uplink. If IP addresses work but website names fail, restart the router and review DNS, filtering and parental-control settings.

Firmware and reset decisions

Install only firmware for the exact model and hardware revision from the official manufacturer source. Reset after other tests fail, not as the first response. Record configuration details because a factory reset removes the saved network and security settings.
